Founded in 2022, Ambiator Private Limited was born with a bold vision: to make cooling technologies sustainable, accessible, and affordable. With over 30 years of pioneering alternative cooling solutions in large-scale projects, the company set out to revolutionize how India — and the world — experiences comfort.

Ambiator’s flagship innovation is a 5TR sustainable cooling system that delivers AC-like comfort without the environmental cost. Unlike traditional air-conditioners that consume massive energy and emit harmful refrigerants, Ambiator offers a middle ground: efficient, eco-friendly cooling that uses less power, less water, and zero refrigerants.

The Founders

  • Jeeten (JD) Desai – Entrepreneur and strategist, JD brings business acumen and resilience to Ambiator’s journey. He manages operations, partnerships, and scaling, ensuring the technology reaches the market.
  • Tiger Aster – Innovator and technologist, Tiger carries forward the legacy of his late father, Sukhdarshan Dhaliwal (DD), who pioneered early heat exchanger designs. Tiger leads R&D, prototyping, and product innovation.

Together, JD and Tiger embody a partnership of vision and skill, united by their mission to build a cooler, greener future.

Philosophy & Mission

Ambiator is guided by three principles:

  • Sustainability: Cooling without harming the planet.
  • Accessibility: Affordable solutions for homes, workplaces, and social spaces.
  • Innovation: Combining science and design to deliver comfort efficiently.

The mission is clear: to redefine cooling as climate-positive infrastructure.

The Mechanics of Cooling

Ambiator’s system leverages the science of wet bulb temperature and dew point to deliver comfort cooling. Unlike ACs that dehumidify and dry out air, Ambiator maintains natural humidity while lowering room temperatures by 5–10°C — enough to create comfort without excess energy use.

Early prototypes were bulky and faced leakage issues, but after 2.5 years of R&D, the team perfected a lighter, more efficient design using LDPE. Precision manufacturing partnerships ensured quality, even at higher costs, because sustainability demanded uncompromising standards.

Getting to Market

Ambiator’s first installation was in Warangal, Telangana, retrofitted into a bungalow with solar panels, making cooling virtually cost-free. This early success demonstrated its potential for affordable thermal comfort in diverse settings and laid the foundation for wider adoption.

Since its commercial launch in January 2024, Ambiator has deployed 35 units across India, from Jaipur to Vellore, serving industrial kitchens, hospitals, homes, and storefronts.

Competition & Market Position

Ambiator sits between air-conditioners and desert coolers:

  • ACs provide comfort but consume 6–10 kW per unit and use harmful refrigerants.
  • Coolers are cheaper but inefficient, water-intensive, and unhygienic.

Ambiator delivers AC-like comfort using just 1 kW of power, five times less water, and zero refrigerants. It’s cleaner, healthier, and far more sustainable.

Funding & Road Ahead

So far, Ambiator has raised ₹83 lakh through grants and awards, including a ₹30 lakh Startup India Seed Fund. The company now seeks ₹34 crore to scale production, expand R&D, and build nationwide service infrastructure.

Future goals include:

  • Launching a residential bio-climatic unit adaptable to India’s diverse climates.
  • Expanding reach through channel partners for faster delivery and after-sales service.
  • Integrating with solar energy providers to create bundled sustainable solutions.

Cooling-as-a-Service (CaaS)

Ambiator’s next big leap is Cooling-as-a-Service. By converting capex into opex, businesses can save over 80% on electricity bills while accessing sustainable cooling. This model aligns perfectly with India’s growing demand for affordable, scalable solutions.

Closing Thought

Ambiator is more than a cooling company — it’s a climate-positive movement. By combining innovation, resilience, and sustainability, JD Desai and Tiger Aster are building a future where comfort doesn’t come at the planet’s expense. Their journey reflects not just technological progress, but a legacy of vision, persistence, and responsibility.
