Bann Thann, founded by Ishani Bhagat, is a fashion label born out of a deep love for textiles, clothing, and craftsmanship. The brand’s inception was sparked by a belief in the interactive and inclusive nature of design, and its mission is to embrace Indian textile practices and crafts while reimagining them as exquisite wedding trousseaus.
While women’s fashion has long celebrated the richness of Indian textiles, Bann Thann shines a spotlight on men’s fashion, a space often overlooked and dominated by western minimalism. Bann Thann seeks to revive the tradition of men dressing with individuality, flair, and cultural pride — offering vibrant colors, bold patterns, and personalized silhouettes that break away from the monotony of black, white, blue, and beige.
The Founder – Ishani Bhagat
Ishani’s journey is deeply personal. A self-proclaimed “tom-boy” who grew up surrounded by male friends and family, she found herself naturally influencing their style choices. While pursuing textile design at Srishti School of Arts and Design, she realized her personality could be expressed through clothing — not just for herself, but for the men in her life.
She began experimenting with dressing her father, cousins, and male friends in colors and patterns they had never tried before. Some experiments were instant hits, others were learning experiences, but all revealed a gap in men’s fashion expression. Bann Thann was born to fill that gap — to encourage men to try: try new colors, silhouettes, and styles that reflect individuality.

Philosophy & Mission
- Inclusivity: Bann Thann celebrates all shapes, forms, and features, offering customization tailored to each individual’s body type and preferences.
- Confidence: The ethos revolves around embracing both perfections and insecurities, ensuring every man feels comfortable in what he wears.
- Heritage: Just as sarees are passed down from mother to daughter, Bann Thann envisions a future where a Bann Thann kurta holds the same sentimental value for men.
- Empowerment: The brand believes grooms (dulhas) deserve the same spotlight as brides, redefining wedding trousseaus for men.
Ready-to-Wear & Customization
Bann Thann’s ready-to-wear collection is designed with comfort, convenience, and cross-functionality in mind. Each piece is crafted to be versatile, stylish, and rooted in heritage. The customization service allows men to personalize their trousseaus, ensuring garments reflect their unique identity.
From block prints and linens to well-fitted bandis and kurtas, Bann Thann encourages men to rediscover their heritage and embrace dressing with intention.
Vision
Bann Thann dreams of seeing men proudly wear Indian textiles and crafts, not just on special occasions but as part of their everyday wardrobe. Ishani envisions a future where men’s fashion is celebrated with the same artistry and individuality as women’s, and where a Bann Thann kurta becomes a staple of heritage and pride.

Closing Thought
Bann Thann is more than a fashion brand — it’s a cultural movement. Founded by Ishani Bhagat, it bridges tradition and modernity, encouraging men to embrace individuality, heritage, and craftsmanship. By redefining wedding trousseaus and everyday wear, Bann Thann is giving men the chance to take center stage, one kurta at a time.
