What makes this brand truly inspiring is not just its products, but the story of two people who believed in a simple idea and turned it into a successful business.

The Beginning: Finding Inspiration in Everyday Travel

The journey of Chumbak began with Shubhra Chadda and Vivek Prabhakar, a husband-and-wife duo with a passion for travel and creativity. During their trips abroad, they noticed how souvenir shops offered fun, modern, and well-designed products that people loved to collect.

In India, however, most souvenirs were traditional and repetitive. They felt there was a lack of fresh, youthful, and contemporary designs. This observation planted the seed of an idea — to create products that reflected Indian culture in a modern and playful way.

Taking a Leap of Faith

In 2010, Shubhra and Vivek officially started Chumbak in Bengaluru. The name “Chumbak,” which means magnet in Hindi, symbolised their dream of attracting people through creativity and originality.

Starting a business was not easy. To fund their dream, the couple took a bold step and invested their personal savings into the company. They began with small products like fridge magnets, keychains, and cushion covers. These items were simple, affordable, and full of colour — and customers loved them.

Their early success gave them confidence that they were on the right path.

Growth Through Design and Innovation

As demand increased, Chumbak slowly expanded its product range. From souvenirs, the brand moved into home décor, bags, watches, stationery, apparel, and lifestyle accessories. Each product carried the same signature style — bright colours, playful illustrations, and Indian-inspired themes.

The brand also made smart use of online platforms, allowing customers from different parts of India to shop easily. Later, Chumbak opened physical stores, creating lively spaces that reflected its cheerful personality.

Design became the heart of the brand. Every product was created with storytelling in mind, making customers feel emotionally connected to what they bought.

Building a Strong Brand Identity

One of Chumbak’s biggest strengths is its unique brand identity. Instead of copying global trends, it proudly celebrates Indian culture in a fresh and modern way. From city-themed designs to folk-inspired patterns, Chumbak blends tradition with contemporary style.

The brand’s strong social media presence and customer-friendly approach also helped it grow rapidly. By listening to feedback and adapting to changing tastes, Chumbak continued to stay relevant among young consumers.

With support from investors and partners, the company expanded its reach and strengthened its position in the Indian retail market.

Impact and Influence

Today, Chumbak is more than just a brand — it is a symbol of creative entrepreneurship in India. It has inspired many young designers and entrepreneurs to believe that Indian stories, when presented well, can succeed globally.

For customers, Chumbak represents happiness, nostalgia, and self-expression. Its products are often chosen as gifts, souvenirs, and personal keepsakes because they carry emotional value.

Conclusion: A Story of Passion, Courage, and Creativity

The journey of Chumbak proves that great businesses do not always start with big money or complex plans. Sometimes, they begin with a simple observation, strong belief, and the courage to take risks.

Shubhra Chadda and Vivek Prabhakar turned their love for design and travel into a brand that touches millions of lives. Through hard work, creativity, and consistency, they built Chumbak into one of India’s most loved lifestyle labels.

Their story reminds us that when passion meets purpose, even the smallest ideas can grow into powerful brands. Chumbak continues to attract hearts — just like its name suggests — and stands as an inspiring example of modern Indian entrepreneurship.
