The sisters grew up on floriculture farms, witnessing firsthand the evolution of the cut-flower industry. Their father, who started a rose farm in 1994, expanded operations to India, Ethiopia, and Kenya, even building the world’s largest rose farm in Kenya.

While bouquet flowers became a global business, Yeshoda and Rhea noticed something striking: most Indians don’t buy bouquets. Instead, they use traditional flowers daily—for prayers, festivals, and personal adornment. Despite this massive demand, the supply chain was fragmented, unorganized, and wasteful, with up to 40% of flowers discarded before reaching consumers.

Hoovu Fresh was born to solve this problem. By partnering with farms, reducing turnaround times, and innovating packaging, the brand has extended flower shelf life by 2x to 5x, ensuring fresher blooms reach customers faster.

Founders’ Journey

  • Yeshoda Karuturi holds a Master’s in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. As Executive Director at Karuturi Global, she managed overseas operations and built scalable agricultural businesses in Ethiopia.
  • Rhea Karuturi graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Science, Technology, and Society. With experience in media and communication, she worked at publications like Times of India and Deccan Herald, bringing storytelling and brand-building expertise to Hoovu Fresh.

Together, they combined their agricultural knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit to modernize India’s flower industry.
